How To Design Summer Memories As Permanent As The Sharpie Marks On Your Wall
Summer is in full swing, so there is no better time than right now to plan experiences and adventures that will create lifelong memories for your child(ren) and family! A whiff of salty sea breeze; the sound of singeing marshmallows over a crackling fire; the flash of fireflies against a background of chirping crickets—these are some common triggers of nostalgia that whisk many of us back to yesteryear when time seemed infinite, and our youth was a given. Fast forward to now when we are not just adults, but parents, who understand that time passes more quickly every year, and that childhood is as fleeting as the light coming from our buggy friends’ bums. These memories aren't just pleasant to recall, but they are based on transformational experiences that allowed us to discover who we were, what we were capable of, and many of the wonders of life.    As parents, it is one of our greatest privileges to be able to bring these types of experiences to our children. However, I would like to suggest that instead of just delivering these experiences, we might want to architect them in order to maximize the chances that they will live on forever in our families’ hearts and minds. Here's how to harness three pillars of great architecture—newness, unpredictability, and togetherness—to design experiences that will be as indelible on our families’ memories as those sharpie marks are on your living room wall (which is totally your husband's fault for leaving said pen within your toddler's reach).    1. Learn Something New  Just like an architect, a child's tools for building a strong mind and body are innovation and newness. There is no better time than summer to open your mind, stretch your wings and try something different from what is usually available in the classroom or at home. Don't be shy to act on an inkling that your child might have a hidden talent or interest, as you never know when a spark will ignite lifelong passion. Look for classes, camps, and excursions that are a little outside of your kids’ obvious bailiwicks, and/or embark on those parent-child activities that you have been putting off until a better time such as learning a new cooking technique, making a scrap book, learning an instrument, using basic tools to fix household items, making a shadow portrait, etc… Don't forget that some of your best resources for unique activities are the talented people in your immediate circle who would probably love to be tapped to bring a new experience to your family!    2. Be Unpredictable No architect likes to build a cookie-cutter neighborhood, so why build a cookie-cutter life? Don't let your kids’ summers become cookie-cutter, instead fill their summers with unpredictable adventure! With a little effort, even simple excursions can become as full of discovery as a deep ocean dive.    For example, I once I decided to bring my kids to the Jelly Belly factory, which was about 1.5 hours away from home (a very long time for a 4 and 6-year-old to sit still). I didn't tell them where we were going, instead, I told them that I would give them a clue each time we reached a landmark. Instead of constantly asking me when we were going to get there, they were engaged with looking out the window for landmarks and with noodling on what the clues meant. When we finally arrived at the factory, they were ecstatic about the destination and were finally able to put all of the clues together. The drive to the factory was as exciting as the tour and the candy, and it's an experience they reminisce about fondly even 9 years later!    Then there was that time that my extended family planned a trip to London together. Instead of announcing to our girls where we were going, I persuaded a woman who works at a local nature center (with the help of a modest donation) to pull off the best Harry Potter ruse in parenting history (in a good way!). This amazingly accommodating woman dressed up in a black robe and witches’ hat, and brought one of the nature center's resident owls to our home. With a fairly convincing fake British accent, she pretended to be helping a lost owl deliver Owl Post to each of the girls. With twinkling eyes and mouths agape, they opened their letters to find out that they were invited to Hogwarts in England. One week later, we had an incredible time touring London to see the sites of inspiration for the Harry Potters books and movies, and touring the movie studio just outside of the city. To this day, they recount the experience with an unparalleled tone of wonder and excitement, and they still don't know exactly how it all happened.   3. It's Better Together The “great room” must be one of the best architectural inventions ever, as it allows people to gather naturally so that they can create shared memories together. Make your summer a “great room” by reaching out to family and friends to join you on your summer adventures. If you are like me, you are often making plans at the last minute and it is too late to invite others. Take a look at your calendar now and choose a date a couple of weeks into the future. Then scan event and activity listings for your area on that date, and think of family members and/or friends who would enjoy those adventures with you. Send them a quick message to invite them to a special activity, and cross your fingers that their calendars will sync with yours. We may be half way through summer, but there are still countless outdoor concerts, campgrounds, theme parks, playgrounds, farmers markets, libraries, restaurants, water bodies, and hiking trails (to name a few) that are begging to be explored…together!   As always, stay safe in the summer sun by protecting your skin and eyes (use sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and protective clothing), and by staying optimally hydrated (Gululu can help with that!).    Stay curious and stay hydrated, Team Gululu
How to Overcome Winter Dehydration?
Winter brings the chill, sometimes brings the snow, but also brings dehydration! Just because the heat is gone doesn’t mean the chance of dehydration has left as well so it is just as important to keep water nearby now than ever! How do you keep these dangers away? Look at these super helpful 1,2,3 steps to stay away from dehydration!   1. Start and end the day with a glass of water Think about it, while you are drinking water throughout the day, you are preparing your body in this way! If you drink a glass of water right as you get out of bed, you are already jumpstarting your hydration process for the day. While it’s still very important to drink throughout the day, this is a good place to start! Also, think about right before bed, After you and your children have used the bathroom, grab a glass of water and fill yourself up because while you are sleeping for about 8 hours, you aren’t getting an hydration with your rest! Grab some rest and hydration, all while you sleep!   2. Put water next to every meal  A lot of the time the reason why we don’t drink water is because we don’t see the water, or the water is not right beside us whenever our body tells us it is time to drink, but this fixes the problem! Having water with you at every meal, no matter what it is, is a good way to help the food flow down, but also make sure that you are hydrating. Drinking water during a meal also helps satisfy cravings! No matter what you are feasting on in this season, make your choice of drink that thing that we all love - water!   3. Include water in every meal  In a season of sweets and salts, take a break and take a glass of water instead! The cookies, cakes, snacks and treats that have filled your bellies over this winter break have to be replaced by water because your body can’t handle this much indulgence without some good old H2O! But don’t worry, if you’re still hungry all you need to do is find fruits and other hydrating foods to add to your meals along the way. Including water in every meal can look different on many different plates so find the way that is best for you!    Keep us updated on how you and your family hydrate during winter! We can’t wait to hear it!   Love, Team Gululu    Photo by Teddy Kelley on Unsplash

Indoor and Outdoor Summer Activities For Your Family!
The temperatures are heating up all summer long and the littles ones aren’t at school to occupy their days anymore. There is so much more time on your hands for fun activities that you all can share together, so many places you can go and exciting things you can do and see!    Make your memories and moments with your children unique as you show them that the best parts of summer are closer to home the they think! Here are 7 special tips to finding the most fun summer activities for kids! 1.Water! While Team Gululu and the Gululu pets are here to make sure your family and your children are drinking enough water, there is also another use for it: to play! Whether in the ocean, a swimming pool, sprinklers in the yard, or a fun water balloon fight find the water nearest you and use it to cool off outside under the summer rays! 2. Turn clean up into craft up! Although “spring cleaning” may have already passed, it is never a bad idea to repurpose some broken or barely used materials in your home! You can use this tip for any rainy day that comes your way too. Use old cereal boxes and milk cartons to make guitars and other musical instruments! Take some mismatched socks and start up a sock puppet collection! Find some old buttons, string, and a paper plate and help your kids make fun masks they can jump around the living room in! 3. Head to the park and bring a picnic! Spend a day watching your kids on the slides and the swings and set up a blanket to eat some fresh fruit and veggies with PB&J sandwiches after they are all famished from running all of their energy out! BONUS: if there is a pond near by, have fun watching the ducks, turtles, and other wildlife swim around! 4. Create your own street art! Find your driveway or a sidewalk and add some color to it with the help of sidewalk chalk! This chalk is a special way to showcase your kids’ designs while also being a huge surface that they can color on that only stays permanent until the rain comes and washes it away. 5. Feed and find the birds! Make bird feeders out of pinecones, peanut butter and bird seed! This fun little craft will last long after you finish hanging up this delicious treat for the birds. Have the little ones take pictures or write descriptions of the different types of birds that stop by the feeders. This way you are bird feeding and bird watching all at once! 6. Make a fully-functioning fort! Expand your kids’ creativity and challenge them to make the biggest or best fort that they can imagine. Inside or outside! Using blankets, chairs, cardboard boxes and more make this fort adventure something that they can both create and explore. 7. Plant a garden! Summer is the perfect time to help grow either some beautiful flowers or some fresh fruits and vegetables. First step is to go to the store and grab the special seeds. Find a variety and make sure they can survive in the conditions of your yard. Then plant them with your little ones and show them how to water the plants so that they can grow! The kids can be on the lookout all summer to see when their fruits and veggies are ready to be eaten! Have fun on your adventures and let us know any special tips or tricks you use for fun summertime activities! Love, Team Gululu
Summer Vacation: Keep your Kids Hydrated During Flights!
One of the most fun things you can do with your little ones is to take them on an adventure. Sometimes that is to the park, or to the zoo or even on an airplane! Going on a journey through the sky is exciting and new, no matter the length of the flight. However, the length of the flight is something you need to consider in thinking about how much hydration your children will need! Flying at such high altitudes is very dehydrating so you need a plan to make sure your fun trip on the plane doesn’t end in dehydration! Here are 5 fast and fun tips to make sure you and your kids stay hydrated throughout your adventure! 1. Skip the sugary drinks, head to the water cart! If your flight offers in-flight food service, use this as an opportunity to get something from the cart that will keep your little ones relaxed and healthy! Getting anything from the cart would be a joy, but make sure that you keep hydration in mind and go straight for the water! Too many sugary drinks can leave everyone to still be dehydrated while wanting to bounce around the walls with all the sugar intake, which won’t be fun for anyone! 2.Always be prepared! Most security lines won’t let you bring any unchecked liquids into the airport, but there is a way to bring your water bottle from outside security with you the whole way! Good for you and good for the environment- bring a refillable water bottle along with you. Make sure that it is empty while going through security, but find a filling station before you take off! This tip also saves you a little bit of money from airport water bottle prices! 3.Stick with the facts- eat natural snacks! Two good foods to look out for are fresh, naturally flavored fruits, and also rice! These two might sound like a weird combo, but they have something in common- water! Foods like berries and cucumbers are easy to pack into a little bag on the go and are also rich in the most important nutrient- water. Although rice may sound like such a random treat, it is actually a food filled with a bunch of water in each and every cooked grain. 4.Keep your whole body hydrated! Use lotions and natural creams to keep each part of your body fully hydrated! The biggest organ that we have as humans is our skin and if we drink water, we naturally are taking care of that- but a little bit of lotion can go a long way! Bring scents or colors that will leave little mess but lots of entertainment for the little ones. Put a dot of lotion on their skin, and challenge them to make it disappear when they rub it in! 5.Here is a tip for you as much as it is a treat for your kiddos! Bring the Gululu pets along. Your little kids will be having fun enjoying the games while keeping themselves happy, healthy and hydrated all in one! No fussing on this flight because Gululu is the way to save the day. Here is another surprise and special treat: Gululu has upgraded to 3D! There is a whole new layer in the Gululu Interactive Bottle too. It’s called Wonder Woods, made with new and exciting views and adventures to enhance the game! Read more about it here Show us the journeys that the Gululu pets go on with you and your family by posting on our Facebook pictures of the places you have been together. Have fun in the sky! What Gululu Shared on the United Nations’ Stage
If you have been following us for a while, you know that Gululu was born out of a strong will to grow healthier kids by increasing their water consumption. Our mission is to hydrate the kids of the world and we are pursuing it in various ways. Team Gululu is honored and thrilled by the great opportunity to speak at the United Nations “Ocean Conference”! We shared our mission and called organizations and schools with a sense of social responsibility  to join the endeavor to help undeserved and minor communities with poverty in small Islands Developing States. This post represents a milestone in the Gululu Interactive Bottle’s Journey, and we are so happy to share it with you! Gululu helps children stay hydrated by caring for a virtual pet and keeps parents informed through a connected app.  As kids drink more water from Gululu, their virtual pet grows and makes friends, and the kids develop a healthy habit! However, we wanted more—our vision is too big and too important… The question raised was how can a private company advance this goal beyond the immediate impact of their product? The best way, we figured, is through partnership. We took another step to making a profound impact on hundreds of thousands of kids around the world through our partnership with Generosity.org! For every bottle sold, a kid in a developing country is provided with clean drinking water—for life. Generosity.org is a non-profit organization that builds water wells in developing countries. So far, they have built over 778 water wells in 20 countries, serving half a million people! Today, we were able to share our special partnership and vision at the United Nations!   What did Gululu announce at the UN’s “Ocean Conference”? This week the UN is holding “The Ocean Conference”, which discusses the future of our oceans as well as Small Islands States communities, water pollution and how it affects our world's’ inhabitants and future. Our co-founder and general manager for North America, Mr. Asi Meskin, was invited to give two speeches about Gululu’s mission to hydrate kids living in Small Islands Developing states. To be honest, Team Gululu spent weeks thinking about what we wanted to say. How could we use this amazing stage to “get the ball rolling” even more? Eventually, we crafted an honest and engaging speech, and we are excited to share some of its highlights with you here: 1) Improving communities health “As our team at Gululu knows, having access to clean water is the first step to breaking the cycle of poverty. Listen to this: 663 million people still live without clean water, and we want to help. Why is it a problem? Health. The lack of clean water and sanitation causes 80% of all sickness and disease in the developing world - affecting more people than war, AIDS, and famine combined.” 2) So how do we combat this, even from afar? “The beauty of our partnership with Generosity.org is that for every Gululu bottle purchased, we provide clean water for life to a child in a developing country. As a company with a mission, we make sure that a percentage of each sale goes toward our cause, affecting the world beyond our immediate consumers. Every company can do this. For us, each and every bottle not only increases our consumer's kids’ water consumption but provides water - life! - to other kids!” 3) Our BIG announcement at the UN! “As part of the Gululu mission, it is my honour to officially announce for the first time that Gululu is partnering with an elementary school in the U.S. to build a well for an underprivileged community in Peru! This has become a reality due to a partnership model. We merged private sector (Gululu) with public sector (Generosity) to connect the developed world (elementary schools in the U.S.) with the developing world (the community in Peru). Through this type of model, we can help young people see the universality of the need for hydration. In this example, Monroe Elementary School in Palm Springs, California is our pilot for this model.“ 4) Calling you to change the world with us! “Now is the moment for a call to action: we are constantly seeking additional schools and organizations in the U.S. that have a social responsibility program or that want to create one to fundraise in order to build a well in a small island state or developing country. In this way, we further the mission of global hydration and bridge the gap between disparate worlds.” If you love what we do, help us find additional schools and organizations to partner with and make a difference for kids around the world! Contact us at : partnership@bowhead-tech.com Thank you for taking the time to read this and for sharing this great experience with us. Enjoy the photos from the event, below. With Much Gulu-Love, Team Gululu
Awesome Music both Kids & Parents Will Love!
There is one language that goes across all cultures and expands past the constraints of time, and that language is music! As parents we love to treasure the music of our past, but our kids these days are looking to towards the music of the future! Good news is that there is plenty of music from the past that can be great for your kids in the present, like the music made for your kids now will sound good to you too! Just as music has its connecting traits across the world, it can also be used as a powerful tool to bring parents and kids together! The power of music can take you anywhere and can follow you anywhere too! Check out some fun ways for you and your children to listen to music together: 1.Start the morning off with energizing tunes - Some mornings it may be a little tougher to get the little ones up and moving, but as you are making breakfast in the morning, bring their favorite songs into the mix. Not only will they get the energy from having a healthy breakfast, but you will get their brains and their bodies moving for the day too! 2. A sing along in the car - Make any journey a fun one by turning on the radio to find the perfect song for you and your little ones as you travel along. Whether it’s a song you all know by heart, or a new tune to learn, everyone in the car gets to have an awesome and interactive experience together! 3. Household chores are no longer a bore - Need the dishes to be put away or the trash to be taken out? Use songs that both you and your kids like to enjoy as a timer to get each task done. While singing along your kids will be working hard to get each chore done, making their work go by quick and easy! 4. Family fun time - Turn any room in your house into a stage! Turn off the lights, bring some lamps or flashlights to shine, and a makeshift microphone from anything you can find around the house. Everyone belt out their favorite tunes and add a dance number to it too! Top 10 Tunes Here we have compiled a top 10 list of some artists who can entertain both you and your little ones no matter what you are up to! 1. Bob Marley: Three Little Birds 2. U2: Beautiful Day 3. The Beatles: Twist and Shout 4. Kenny Loggins: Footlose 5. Louis Armstrong: What a Wonderful World 6. Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World 7. Imagine Dragons: On Top Of The World 8. Jack Johnson: Upside Down 9. Auli’i Cravalho: How Far I’ll Go 10. Katy Perry: Firework This is what we love to do in the Gululu family! Connecting you and your little ones is in the very fiber of the Gululu Interactive Bottle itself! All the steps from setup, to playing with their Gululu pets together, to following water intake via the app, parents and kids are connected every step of the way. Keep making memories and start blasting the tunes! Love, Team Gululu
International Family Day Special: Be a companion to your child
We at Gululu are excited for International Family Day, as our mission revolves around healthier children and happier families! When you think about it, parents are our primary role models and teachers of what life is and how to live it. We learn from them, step by step, a lot of what we know in most stations of our lives; from helpless infancy through unwieldy adolescence- parents are our main companions and extremely influential friends. Much of what you think about life or feel about yourself is probably based on your experience with your parent companions. Generation after generation is powerfully influenced by the way "mom and dad" think and feel. So much of psychotherapy — perhaps most of it — is based on dealing constructively with life while better understanding what one parent, or both of your parents, taught you by word and example. Since our kids are constantly learning from us, the quality of the companionship you created in your family directly influences not only what a young person knows, but also what he or she feels about the world and himself or herself. Companionships, early or late in life, have a profound impact on what a person does with the gift of life. Under positive influences you can cherish the life in others and, holding all life precious, make the best of your own life, too. Most likely, the companionship of parents, other relatives, teachers, and old friends have significantly shaped your thoughts and feelings. Also, the examples and inputs of these key people are probably motivating your way of dealing with life — your drive toward success or failure. To contribute in strengthening the companionship and guidance you as a parent infuse in your family, we have outlined a few helpful tips: Listen to your kid. All human beings want to be heard and to be listened to. Researches show that when we listen to someone talking, show interest and ask questions, the person connects with and likes us even more, only because we made him feel good by listening to him. That works amazing with your kids, too! Listen to them, make their words feel most important to you! Be involved in your child's life. This one is easier said than done, especially as your kids grow. Being an involved parent takes time and is hard work. It may often mean rethinking and rearranging your priorities. Find a way to be there for your child mentally as well as physically. It does not mean you need to do your kids' homework; however, you should be involved and see how your kid is dealing with the material learned. Provide your kids with advice, ways to manage their time or conflicts, skills like prioritizing, judgment or lessons learned from your life experience. Treat your children with respect. In order to get respectful treatment from your children, treat them respectfully. Give your children the same courtesies you would give to anyone else - speak politely, respect their opinions. Pay attention when they are speaking to you. Treat them kindly. Try to please them when you can. Children treat others the way their parents treat them. Remember that your relationship with your children is the foundation for their relationships with others. Your kids are imitating you. This is a very important principle: since your kids learn much from imitating you, always remember they are watching what you do. Think, what you do can teach them good ethics, educational value, better ways to approach situations and so on. Explain what you do, why you do it, and provide guidance for your little ones 5. Show them that no matter what - you believe in them. As a parent you are a mentor and educator along with a friend. Keep telling your kid you believe in them, in their power to get a higher score on the next exam, to get accepted to the sports team, to achieve anything they want and fulfill their dreams. Express your unconditional love and support and let them feel they can do anything! They will thank you for that for the rest of their lives! We wish you all a happy, hydrated, International Family Day! Lots of Gulu-Love, Team Gululu
A Night of Generosity - To Impact Kids of the World!
Water is life, it’s nature's most valuable cure and resource to all of earth’s inhabitants. Our main goal at Gululu is to get kids to acquire water drinking habits in order to allow for a healthier life and well being. To advance this goal we have partnered with Generosity.org that has been providing clean drinking water solutions for communities in developing countries around the world! On March 21, the eve of World Water Day, Generosity.org hosted an event raising awareness for the clean water crisis and celebrating communities now having access to clean water thanks to the generosity of many supporters around the world! As a Generosity.org corporate partner, Gululu’s campaign was led by the slogan “Every Drop Matters” - because it really does! When Generosity.org first began in 2007, they had no idea of the impact they would create together with fundraisers, donors and partners, among them Gululu. With 778 water projects now complete, they invite you to join us in their goal of reaching 1000 water projects, bringing thousands of individuals access to clean water! You can do that by purchasing Gululu, for every bottle sold, a child in a developing country is provided with clean drinking water for life! This World Water Day was celebrated by us all at The Montage in Beverly Hills with friends, partners and celebrity supporters such as Actress Jane Lynch (Glee), Singer Jordin Sparks, Comedian Anjelah Johnson, Singer Pia Toscano and Actors DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good. How To Effectively Teach Children?
As a parent we teach our children new things all the time, however no one necessarily teach us how to do so.. While many people find teaching children to be rewarding, some will tell you that it’s just plain stressful at times.  What are the best ways to teach kids?  Do the methods and techniques vary across subject manner?  For example, would you use the same approach to teach a child how to tie their shoes as you would how to do multiplication tables?  Probably not.  That being said though, there is no fool-proof way on how to teach kids.   There are several proven methods and techniques you can use - Before you dedicate yourself to a teaching method, figure out how the kids learn best.  From there, you can choose teaching methods and techniques that are right for them.   You will be surprised how fast they can learn something once you teach to their learning style. There are 7 primary learning styles: Visual (Spatial) – These individuals learn best through pictures, images, and spatial understanding. To help your visual learner grasp concepts faster, teach them through pictures, icons, charts, diagrams, and color coded information.   Aural (Auditory) – These individuals learn best through sound and music. Making up a story or a song with the directions or the main concepts of the lesson will help this type of learner succeed. Verbal (Linguistic) – These individuals learn best through words, verbal and/or written. Copying down phrases and words, taking their own notes during lectures, reading out loud, listening to audio recordings, and discussions are effective teaching methods and techniques for this type of learner. Physical (Kinesthetic) – These individuals learn best through experience and rely on the sense of touch.  Encourage kids to build, create, act things out, and experience what they are learning. Logical (Mathematical) – These individuals learn best through logic and reasoning. Logical learners need to know the elusive “why?”. The answer “because” or “it just is” will never sit right with them. Social (Interpersonal) – These individuals learn best through group interaction. You can teach to this learning style through role playing, group projects, volunteering, service projects, and debates Solitary (Intrapersonal) – These individuals learn best through self-study. Try centering your lesson plans around things they are already interested in and use their interest as a vessel to learn new things It is important to note that many kids learn well from a blend of learning styles.  Think of yourself for example.  Do you learn best through just one of these learning styles or several? Of course, us at Gululu recommend to keep teaching your kid to have a healthy lifestype and stay hydrated :)

Mom Rocks! What Moms Say About Gululu
Team Gululu has the privilege of working with moms from all over the world. No matter their country, faith, or language, moms are looking to better their kids' lives, health, and well being! On this post we wish to celebrate you moms (and also dads) for your 24/7 dedication, love, care, and for all that you give to your kids! In the past month since the Gululu Interactive Bottle launched on Amazon Exclusive, we had many mom bloggers telling their story and sharing Gululu’s values with their audiences. In addition, they spread the word about our mission: to hydrate kids all around the globe through our partnership with Generosity.org. For every bottle purchased, a kid in a developing country will be provided with clean drinking water for life! We would like to praise and share what these moms wrote about us: Victoria from Mom Does Reviews “Families, like mine, are praising Gululu for allowing them to easily address their child’s fluid intake while getting their children involved in the discussion.  Instead of having the constant “please drink this” conversation throughout the day, we ask if they are taking care of their Gululu pet. They immediately run over to their Gululu, and drink!” Kristin from Our Ordinary Life “My kids are very active so between their after school activities I’m always making sure we have water bottles packed and ready for use. We were introduced to the Gululu, an interactive and totally new water bottle that my kids can’t get enough of!” Glenndal from Mile High Mom “Health is wealth is a popular saying and as humans we cannot do without water. As parents we always want to see our children drink the right amount of water to stay healthy and hydrated, especially during this summer season. To help your kids and perhaps even you as parents drink enough water, there is a new interactive water bottle that bolster water intake — Gululu the interactive bottle.” Melissa from Outnumbered 3-1 “Hydration is key to our existence and with so many beverage options out there, it’s easy to get sucked into the sugary drinks that taste good., But it’s important to drink water, lots of water! Kids are encouraged to drink water through Gululu’s interactive bottle in which you can create personalized drinking goals.” Maggie from Super Savvy Mommy “When Dexter was younger he was so active that I would forget to make him drink throughout the day. His lips became dry and he would end up very thirsty at night before bed (once he was slowed down for the day and thinking about it!) So I created the "water challenge" where I would fill up a small and a large glass of water. I would yell "Water Challenge!!!" and he would come and "race" me to see who could finish their water first. It was always a fun little game between the two of us but boy, I am sure he would have loved Gululu so much more!!” Shannon from The Mommy Files “Did you know that hydration promotes mood and cognition? Over half of all children are under hydrated. This may result in poor health, cognitive problems, and poor emotional development. I didn’t know that before! Sometimes it can be a real challenge to get our kids to drink water and stay hydrated. It’s just “boring” or “annoying” to have to drink and stay hydrated, but it’s necessary. Gululu makes the process easy and fun. ” Kim from Shop With Me Mama “I had never seen or heard of anything like Gululu Interactive Bottle before now.  There is an ADORABLE, interactive bottle that will make your child WANT to drink more water.  This is such a fun and neat way to get your kids to drink up that water each day! This fun bottle features a pet- (Tama Gucci like), that grows and goes through underwater adventures as your child drinks.” We admire all of you parents and moms!   We are always hear for you. Love, Team Gululu
How to Say “I Love You” in 10 Common Languages
The days are getting longer, the sun’s bows shooting arrows of light into our lives, lifting our spirits and putting an amorous spring into our steps.  It’s no wonder this is the time for lovers, as winter’s nip is still in the air, making our eyes wander to people with whom we might want to snuggle for the next few cold months.  All over the world people’s feelings are the same, but the ways of saying it are many. At Gululu, we celebrate all cultures, and realize the beauty of our world balloons from the diversity of all the different lovebirds in it!  Love- one of our core values- is something to be shared with the people in our families, at work, and in our communities.  Cherishing Valentine’s Day this year, we’d like to introduce you, our friends and fans, to the most common and affectionate ways to say, “I love you.” 1) Mandarin Chinese: “???” Phonetic: wo eye nee Nearly 1.2 billion people worldwide speak some form of Chinese. Mandarin Chinese, with more than 960 million native speakers, is the most-spoken language in the world. Chinese has been around for a very long time, with writing going back 5000 years. Ancient spoken Chinese was very diverse with thousands of dialects.  Old Mandarin developed around 1324 AD, but wasn’t accepted as a national language in Taiwan until 1932, and in Mainland China until 1949. That’s a whole lot of love! 2) Spanish: “Te amo.” Phonetic: tay ah-moe There are over 427 million native speakers of Spanish worldwide, which makes Spanish the second most-commonly spoken language in the world. Formed from Latin in the Iberian Peninsula, Old Spanish- known as Castilian- developed around the 10th century AD. Over the years it changed, and around 1500AD, finally became the Spanish we know today.  Spanish is called a “romance language” because of its Romanic heritage. Oh, how romantic! 3) English: “I love you.” Phonetic: ahyee luv yew I bet you didn’t expect to see English on the list!  But yes, this post’s mother language is spoken by over 339 million native speakers worldwide, making it the third most-common spoken language! Old English (Anglo-Saxon), was first spoken around 450AD in England, Scotland, and by some Germanic tribes. Middle English lasted from 1150-AD until the development of early modern English at the end of the 15thcentury. Finally, modern English flirted up around the year 1650 AD. 4) Hindi: “??? ????? ????? ???? ???” Phonetic: (to female) may toom say pyar kar ta-hoon (to male) may toom say pyar kar tee-hoon Hindi emerged in India around the 7th century AD and was fully established by the 10th century. Considered to be a direct descendant of early Sanskrit, Hindi is one of the official languages of India, and also Fiji. Hindi has been influenced by other languages, too! Portuguese, English, Arabic, Turkish and Dravidian have all lent a few words.  Hindi boasts more than 310 million native speakers worldwide.   5) Arabic: “????” Phonetic: (to male) ana beh ka (to female) ana beh ke Arabic was first spoken in the Iron Age (1200-600 BCE). Wow! That’s a long time ago! Springing up in northwestern Arabia, Arabic has influenced many languages: Persian, Turkish, Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Tagalog, and Indonesian- just to name a few! Latin and Greek- the origins of most European languages- borrowed much vocabulary from Arabic, too. Classical written Arabic follows the standards of the Quran, written around 610AD. Modern Arabic differs in style and vocabulary.  Globally, there are over 295 million devoted native speakers of Arabic.   6) Portuguese: “ Eu te amo.”  Phonetic: eeyew chee ahmoe Another one of the romance languages, Portuguese developed around 300 BCE in the Western Iberian Peninsula.  Roman soldiers brought with them Latin, which later gave birth to Portuguese.  The first written documents of Portuguese are dated from around the 9th century AD. Today, the majority of Portuguese speaking people are from Brazil, with a worldwide population of more than 215 million native speakers.   7) Bengali: “??? ?????? ????????” Phonetic: ahmee toemAy bhAhlo bAshee From the exotic region of South Asia, Bengali-also known as Bangla- has over 210 million native speakers worldwide.  Developed from Sanskrit over thousands of years, Bengali emerged around 1000 AD, with the modern form becoming stable in the late 19th century. Bengali is the official national language of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, and the second most-spoken language in India and Pakistan.   8) Russian: “? ????? ????” Phonetic: yah teh-byah loo bloo The largest native language in Europe, Russian is the main language spoken in Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and many smaller East European territories, with more than 160 million native speakers worldwide. Modern Russian arose in the 1700’s under the rule of Peter the Great.  An Aramic language like English, not much is known about the pre-history of the Russian language. Scholars suggest it came from tribal dialects, mixed with Greek and other European dialects. 9) Japanese: ”??????” Phonetic: ah ee shee tay mah soo Little is known about the Japanese language’s pre-history. Although Japanese and Chinese have no lingual relationship, Chinese has had a huge influence on Japanese, and most written Japanese comes from Chinese characters. Modern Japanese, developed around 1600, has many loanwords from English as well.  With about 125 million native speakers, Japanese is mostly spoken in Japan but can also be found in large communities in Brazil, the U.S. (Hawaii), and Canada. 10) Punjabi: “??? ??????? ???? ???? ???“ man ten-oo pyar kar da hAan Punjabi developed in northern India from Sanskrit, which changed to Prakrit, and then again to Apabhramsha. Modern Punjabi, influenced by Arabic and Persian, solidified around the 7th century AD. With over 100 million native speakers, Punjabi is the most spoken language in Pakistan, and is also widely spoken in India, the United Kingdom, and-believe it or not- Canada, after English and French.   Beloved friends and fans, we hope you will have many opportunities to say, “I love you” this Valentine’s Day. As we share these words with you, we also share our devotion to keeping kids healthy around the world.  No matter what language you speak, love is a constant that knows no borders or boundaries, no color or race.  Let your heart guide you , and keep sharing the Gululove! * We are sharing the Gulu-Love and offer 10% off for any purchase on Amazon Exclusive with this Promo Code: "GULULOVE" ( The offer is valid until 2/15/2017).  Lovingly, Team Gululu
Developing Your Kids’ “Generosity Muscle”
To celebrate Gululu’s partnership with Generosity.org, we at Team Gululu want to keep sharing the love by suggesting different ways to teach your bundles of joy about generosity. To recap, Gululu was invited by Amazon Exclusive to launch our product on their prestigious platform for the U.S. audience. To increase the launch and our value, we decided to team up with Generosity.org. For every Gululu bottle sold, they will provide clean drinking water for life to a child in a developing country. That aligns with our vision to impact kids’ health and wellbeing. Generosity.org is a humanitarian organization that is helping to end the clean water crisis in developing countries, one community at a time. With 778 projects funded, Generosity.org works systematically, and has brought clean drinking water to more than 450,000 people in 20 countries. Ways to Teach Kids About Generosity For many kids, generosity is about giving gifts and sharing objects. From that basic understanding, you can encourage them to think in more abstract terms, like giving your time, sharing a smile, and that the best form of generosity is done sincerely and expecting nothing in return. Books - One of the best children’s books on generosity is “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. It’s a classic book about the selfless nature of giving. Make sure to have a copy at home, and read and discuss it together! Demonstrate generosity - Your kid takes his cues from you, and when he consistently sees you being generous he’ll want to copy your behavior. Don't hesitate to explain your own generous actions out loud: "I baked two cakes. I could have baked only one, but I want to give one as a gift to our neighbor.” Play a family generosity game - Take out some family photos and enjoy looking at them together. Have fun by asking your children to take turns imitating your mannerisms and habits while completing various tasks. Examples include driving a car, cleaning up, making dinner, changing a diaper, or any other parenting task. Caring for others - Make a gift for someone. It could be a card, a drawing, or a package of goodies. Then, pay them a visit. They will be surprised and excited by your generous gesture! Discuss other people's wants and needs - Guide your kids to see a world bigger than themselves and to think about others. Discuss your closest family members’/friends’ needs and how to address them and your needs together. With generosity and Gulu-Love, Team Gululu
Dream of Gululu, In Remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr.
January 16th is a very special day in American history. On this day, we celebrate the life and accomplishments of a brave man, a wise man, a loving man- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Dr. King helped to bring the awareness of oppression of a people to the forefront of social politics. Dr. King had a dream of bringing equality to all people, for which he fought passionately and relentlessly until his untimely end. We at Gululu also share passion, a passion for bringing proper hydration habits to kids around the world! We would like to honor this great man by sharing some of his most famous quotes, but with a Gululu twist- serious wisdom, mixed with fun! “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: “What are you doing for your children?” “Gululu is taking the first step, to bring hydration health awareness to the world.” “Thirst cannot drive out thirst; only water can do that. Sickness cannot drive out sickness; only healthy habits can to that.” “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their Gululu, but by the content of their Gululu.” “Poor hydration anywhere is a threat to health everywhere.” “I have decided to stick with Gululu.  Thirst is too great a burden to bear.” “Innovation is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” “We must learn to drink together with Gululu, or perish together from thirst.” “In the end, we will remember not the words of our teachers, but the laughter of our friends.” “If you can’t fly, then run; if you can’t run, then walk; if you can’t walk, then crawl; but whatever you do you have to keep drinking your Gululu.”  “Social interaction and proper hydration-that is the true goal of Gululu.” “We may all have different Gululu bottles, but we’re drinking the same water now.” “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about poor hydration habits.” “No child really knows why they are thirsty, until Gululu gives them a reason to hydrate for.” “The time is always right to drink water.” “I submit to you that if a child hasn’t discovered Gululu, then that child isn’t properly hydrated.” “Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere thirst and poor hydration habits.” “A genuine Gululu bottle is not a searcher for consensus, but a molder of healthy habits.” “We must accept finite hydration goals, but never lose infinite fun!” “Only in the bottle can you see the Gululu universe.” “Water is the only face capable of transforming thirst into good health.” “We must build dykes of Gululu bottles to hold back the flood of poor hydration habits.” “Good hydration habits are not occasional acts, but constant goals.” We hope you’ve enjoyed our word play with Dr. King’s amazing wisdom.  We could never assume that his words be taken lightly, but with deepest sincerity, respect, and fun!  Take some time this weekend to share with your children the life of this influential man.  Let Dr. King’s mission be known, and continue to inspire us to become better people, just as Gululu’s mission can inspire kids to be healthier. Happy Martin Luther King Day! Much love from Team Gululu.
Tips for planning your Kids’ New Year’s Resolutions
Reflecting on the past year, setting goals and decisions for the new year, is something many grownups are doing, but can it be equally effective for your kids?  If taken in a constructive way, your children can benefit from this process and learn how to plan and take charge of their actions. Keeping the promises made, or acquiring or improving healthy habits, can make kids feel better about themselves and develop their self-esteem. Ultimately, such a process can change the course of the coming year- for the best!Setting New Year’s resolutions for your kids should start with their own will. Guide them to find what achievements this year will make their hearts sing! Here are a few resolutions to suggest your kids embrace:?         Be the best at something. If your kids practice sports, music, chess or any other skill- ask them, what can they do to be the best at it? Or if there is any new skill your kids want to develop this year, ask them what it is, and plan their steps to acquire this. Let your kids come up with answers and help them by adjusting their plan for getting better at their choices.  Remember, every small win counts!?         Improve grades.School is a big part of their lives. Ask your kids in which classes would they like to get better grades, and what can they promise to do in order to make this happen? Make yourself available to adjust or to add to their suggestions as needed. ?          Eat a healthy dietEncourage your kids to develop healthy eating habits to help avoid cavities, obesity, and improve their wellbeing. Good hydration habits are also healthy for your kids (That’s what Gululu water bottles are for!). Create a game plan, like: “sweets are allowed once per day,” or, “eat at least one favorite fruit or vegetable every day,” and so on- whatever works for you and your kid!The most challenging thing is to keep it going for the whole year. Find ways to help your kids be consistent with their goals. Talk about it. Give them incentives. Plan or emphasize their small wins on a regular basis. Anything that can make your kids want to keep fulfilling their goals for 2017 is great!Have a wonderful 2017!Love, Team Gululu

How To Improve Your Kids’ Self-Esteem
It’s usually easy to notice when kids seem to feel good about themselves, and when they don't. We often describe this as "self-esteem." When grownups and especially kids feel good about themselves, it sets them up for success in many of life’s aspects from school to friendships. Kids who experience more positive feelings like self-acceptance or self-confidence will try new challenges, cope with mistakes better, and try again. Taking pride in their abilities and accomplishments helps kids in every step of the way.Our kids self esteem is being built during their childhood by their closest surroundings. To support that, we have gathered 3 top tips to help build our kids self esteem:Encourage and accept idea sharing: Share your decision making process with your kids and let them raise solutions and thoughts. Accept their ideas with love and excitement - that will improve their self worth and promote good feeling.Strengthen their strengths: In his book “Seeds of Self-Esteem" Dr.’ Robert B. Brooks states that everyone has a few fields of strength. It’s important to support our kids in expressing those strengths as the small accomplishments will make the kid feel good. Also the positive feedback your kid will get from their surroundings will increase their self esteem.Develop their sense of responsibility: Being responsible increases our kids sense of belonging and motivation to collaborate with others. Give your kid small responsibilities like putting his toys back in place at the end of each day, help cleaning the table after dinner, or assist with younger sibling. All of those will improve your kids self esteem and reflect on other aspects of life, school, social life, etc. With lots of Gululu-Love, the Gululu team
